fuckyeah-nerdery: Saw this picture on imgur and just had to post it here, because this is without a doubt, one of the most badass women alive. Meet Katrina Hodge, a corporal in the British Army and Miss England 2009. According to Wikipedia, she enlisted back in 2004 after her brother challenged her to and earned the nickname “Combat Barbie” after showing up at her assigned unit wearing false eyelashes, kitten heels (whatever those are) and carry a pink suitcase. In 2005 her unit, the Royal Anglian Regiment, was deployed to Iraq, where she saved the lives of her comrades from a prisoner by wrestling not one, but two rifles from him and then knocking his ass out with her bare hands. With her bare hands. Then in 2009, she decided to compete in the Miss England competition to destroy stereotypes about women in the military. She didn’t win (she placed runner-up), but still became Miss England after the woman who did got into a fight and gave up the crown. While Miss England, Hodge convinced the people running the competition to ditch the bikini contest, because she felt that it was more important to be a role model than looking good in a bikini. In 2010, she handed over the crown and returned to military service, being deployed to Afghanistan. This woman is both a BAMF and a HBIC. Damn.

I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!

nointerrruption: okay i have the cutest story to tell you all so i work at a frozen yogurt shop and the people in my town aren’t typically the friendliest but anyway the woman on the right comes in and gets this huge (as you can see) cup of yogurt and by huge i mean it was around $15 so anyway she reaches in her purse to get her wallet but realized she forgot it so she asked me if she could run to her car real quick to get it. i said sure and as i was waiting for her to come back the woman on the left who was eating with her kids comes up to the register and starts digging around in her purse. i asked if she needed help with anything and she said “yes. i’d like to pay for this woman’s yogurt” and i was like what? and she repeated herself and i was like may i ask why and she said “just thought i’d do something nice for someone else” so she paid for it and the woman on the right comes back and i told her what happened she she smiled so big and looked like she was going to cry and she turns to the woman on the left and said “thank you so much. no one ever does anything nice for me and this really came at a great time” and we both asked why and she said “today is my birthday” so everyone in the store sang happy birthday to her and she turns to the woman on the left and says “i make homemade jewelry. let me make you a pair of earrings as a thank you” and they were both so happy and everyone in the store was smiling and i asked if i could take their picture and i got this :’) humanity is not lost! Why is no one questioning why she’s buying all that frozen yoghurt?!
